What's up, everybody? My name is Faith. Introductions are always hard for me because I am still trying to figure out who I am. Yeah, I’m a wife and Mother but that’s not who I am. I met my husband almost 18 years ago. He showed me what being taken care of was supposed to look and feel like. We got married in 2007, bought our first house in 2008, and had our only son in 2010. Shortly after that, He accepted a position at the local fire department and we started navigating the world of the fire service. Spoiler alert, “Rescue me” does not provide a realistic image of what “fire families” are like. We are raising our son with what some would probably consider old-world views. He is expected to use manors and play outside. We are often told we are too hard on him. I don’t think we are. He is turning into a fine young man with a work ethic and a willingness to step up and help when he is needed. He has adopted the same love of motorcycles as his father and grandfather have. He started r...
September 20, 2020 When I woke up from my first surgery and looked down I couldn’t believe what had happened. The amount of metal surrounding my lower leg was crazy. I knew I had hurt my leg, but I did not know how bad. I was laying there crying from the pain when the nurse came in to check on me. She asked me how I was feeling…. And that is when the first joke came… “I feel like I was hit by a truck!” She just looked at me, shook her head, and laughed. I asked what all happened, but fell asleep before I got the answer. Oh, blessed pain meds, you were my best friend! The next morning waking up in pain again I got to meet my new nurse . She explained to me everything that happened, and what was up next. I had a compound fracture on my right leg, my foot had been degloved, and my Achilles tendon was cut in half. She was there to prep me for another surgery. I was scared and wa...
The part of my life that I’m going share with you all is how I did not let life beat me down, and did my best to stay positive. On September 19, 2020, my husband purchased a brand-new motorcycle. (And yes I knew about it!) It was a beautiful bike, and I could not wait to ride that baby home! September 21, 2020…. This is the day that would change our lives forever. Woody got home around 3:30 that day. It was my first day of vacation so I was already home. Woody had brought home some different windshields to try out and wanted to go ride and test them. Something felt off all day, and for some reason, I was not wanting to get on that bike, but I did and didn’t follow my gut instinct. At 4:05 PM we sat at the three-way traffic light barely 5 blocks from our house. Almost exactly 2 days after the purchase. There were no vehicles waiting or coming. There is a curve that comes around a local pizza place that leads vehicles toward the direction we were turning. As we started turning...
