Meet Masshole Peepaw

Image
People would ask my husband and me when we were dating  “are you guys married?” We would answer in unison “yes, just not to each other!” We loved saying that while we were waiting for our divorces to be finalized. I’ve known my husband since we were in 7th grade. I always thought that he was different than all the other boys in my class. We were friendly but didn’t hang around together. Fast forward a couple of years lol! We were both married for 25 years (just not to each other!) and each has two children and grandkids. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would date, never mind marry someone again, and that someone would be the boy that I thought was different from all the rest all those years ago. We could’ve said we don’t need to get married, but we wanted the world to know how much it meant to us to do it all over again. He honestly has made me want to be a better person every single day. In this phase of our lives, we know what’s important to us and that life is short. S

Meet Woody aka The “PILW”

Image
Back in January 2010 I was just coming out of a bad relationship with a controlling and manipulating man-child. He was a career firefighter and a waste of breathable air.  After 3 months with him, I found out he had been cheating on me.  I want to say I was heartbroken, but I was relieved.  I swore I would never date another firefighter again. I decided to try out dating sites again.... (I had tried  E   harmony and my closest match was 3 hours away from me.  You’re telling me that there is no other sarcastic, fun-loving, with ok looks within 25 miles of me?)  I signed up for a site called Plenty of Fish. I received A LOT of responses. The first message was always nice, and then the second one would come.  So what position is your favorite?  My response was always “Upright on my couch eating ice cream alone” NEXT!! As I was scrolling I came across a profile.  I KNOW THIS GUY! Yet I don’t know him.  I know I know him from somewhere.  This guy is 50 miles from me I selected only 25 miles

Marriage Advice & A Chicken?

Image
Well, I was married once before and I’m soon to be married again, so it’s not like I’m advising on something I’ve never done before, but I think this is a worthy read even if not married and for life in general. I’m about to share this post by Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess.  I found this blog back in 2012 and it has stuck with me ever since perhaps it is part of why I pick my battles to this day.  It may also be that I just don’t find value in putting energy into arguments that are so trivial in the grand scheme of life.  So I hope you find some value in this blog share even if it’s just a chuckle!  Would love to hear your thoughts about it in the comments!  Until next time enjoy! https://thebloggess.com/2011/06/21/and-thats-why-you-should-learn-to-pick-your-battles/?fbclid=IwAR3cZHlMO6DynHspBYszkmv4CfGpBGm6aCvmYBIEzqflUtHnDl6fSRxrfE8&mibextid=uc01c0

Friendships

Image
Growing up with shows like “Saved by the bell” and “Friends” have set the bar pretty high for me. But friendships have never come easy for me. I’m too honest and I can see through the bullshit. Having rejection-sensitive dysphoria hasn’t helped matters either. I don’t like friendships, where I feel I must serve a purpose, or have friends that don’t put in what they get out, is exhausting. Hi, I’m the problem, it's me. My high school friends were pretty terrible. Church friends, forget it. I have so many scars on my back from them. Work, Impossible. Being a retail manager trying to make friends never worked out for me, although I did manage to make a few connections but nothing like what I have now. I accepted a long time ago that friendships just weren't meant for me. I had Jeff, Matthew, My sister, and the dogs. I was content. I’m proud to say I now have 2 phenomenal friend circles. My witchy sisters, you know who you are. My travelin’ tribe. When I met my dingleberry family

Finding your tribe

Image
I’m certain most of us can agree that 2020 was a year we soon won’t forget.  It was also a year for some that we learned new things about ourselves, and the relationships around us, and for some, it was a chance to start over with the way we were living. I know for me I went into 2020 with big fears it was the year I would end by turning 40.  An age that gave me great anxiety, stress, and even some depression not as much as turning 42 did, but that’s for another day.  Then the pandemic hit and that threw a wrench into all those emotions.  The best part of the year was that I found the tribe I had prayed for.  They were the unanswered prayers I needed at the time I needed them most. I’m pretty certain none of us knew in January of 2020 that we needed each other as much as we did. Making friends when you're an adult just seems to be completely different than when you were a kid.  I mean it’s not like you can walk out to the playground and just say “Hey wanna be friends?”  Not to ment

Happy Galentine's Day

Image
Galentine’s Day is February 13th, a day for women to celebrate their friendships with their lady friends. It's the day before the most romantic day of the year, but don't let that fool you; it can be just as special and exciting when spending it with your Gals!

Snuggle Up Sunday!

As animal lovers, we wanted to offer places that have pets looking for Fur-Ever homes an opportunity to be spotlighted. As we are all located in different areas of the US we thought maybe this would help get the word out.    Meet Juju! Juju is an adorable mixed breed dog! She is just under 5 years old and weighs in at 29#. Juju was owner surrendered to us after a change in life circumstance for her owner.  Juju is an absolute sweetheart who we believe would love a more quiet, relaxed home. It's not a requirement by any means, but it's just the type of home we think she would thrive in! She loves to be close to her humans and is a snuggler! Juju is potty trained and a well behaved girl. Juju is a NO cat kind of girl! She does get along with other dogs and has been great with all the puppies we recently had here! Juju is a food guarder, so if there are any other dogs in the home, they would need to have their own space for feeding times. She also seems good with kids that have be

Meet Sara-Lynn

Image
Hello!  Last but not least I'm Sara-Lynn.  I'm the one that is "almost" married as previously mentioned in our group introduction.  I'm a mom to a young adult daughter and a 4-legged (chocolate lab who's an old man).  I'm a very new small business owner as well.  My connection to this tribe/blog comes into play with my "almost" husband, he's a first responder and we are a part of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club.   Have you figured out that is the glue that brought us all together?   This tribe came about at the perfect time in my life.  I was working full-time for a large grocery chain as a Purchasing Assistant and due to the pandemic, I was learning to adjust to working virtually and being an "essential employee".  Ironically, I found it to be a blessing in disguise and exactly what my health needed.  I have a rare  medical condition  (well rare as defined as affects 1 in a million Americans at birth "rare", but that

Meet Ninja

Image
Hey Yall ! My name is Ninja. No, my mother didn’t name me that, it’s my road name given to me by a brother rider. Yes, I ride my own motorcycle. I’m also a volunteer firefighter and so I belong to Red Knights which is the largest firefighter motorcycle club in the world. That’s how I met the rest of the beautiful sisters in the Traveling Tribe!     Less than a year and a half ago I married the love of my life. We had the most amazing wedding and were married barefoot on the beach in Barbados! It was amazingly perfect! My husband is a retired police officer and he is also a volunteer firefighter that rides a motorcycle. Our story is a motorcycle club love story!       Okay, so the real job that pays my bills and for my vacations is that I am an ER Nurse. I have been a nurse for almost 15 years. I still love what I do most of the time but like in any job, there are good days and bad days. Currently, I am on my first travel nurse assignment in Miami which is fun and exciting.

Meet Masshole Meemaw

Image
Hello! I’m known as Masshole Meemaw. I am a grateful woman who is a mom, a grammie, and a fairly new wife of a firefighter. That’s where my portion of this blog comes into play. When I married my husband I became a welcome member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club . He has been in this club since the 80s. I’ve met and become friends with so many wonderful people in this organization. After a few years, I finally felt a little more comfortable at their organized events. A couple of years ago we were invited to spend a week with four other couples in Tennessee. I only knew one of the couples. Little did I know that these women would become my tribe.  What I’d like to bring to this blog is some positivity and to let women know how much they can learn from every generation. And to not take things so seriously, life’s too short, like me!  We are all different in age and are in different stages of life. We have a bond that I truly cherish. I never realized how important it is to have other

Meet Faith

Image
What's up, everybody? My name is Faith. Introductions are always hard for me because I am still trying to figure out who I am. Yeah, I’m a wife and Mother but that’s not who I am. I met my husband almost 18 years ago. He showed me what being taken care of was supposed to look and feel like. We got married in 2007, bought our first house in 2008, and had our only son in 2010. Shortly after that, He accepted a position at the local fire department and we started navigating the world of the fire service. Spoiler alert, “Rescue me” does not provide a realistic image of what “fire families” are like. We are raising our son with what some would probably consider old-world views. He is expected to use manors and play outside. We are often told we are too hard on him. I don’t think we are. He is turning into a fine young man with a work ethic and a willingness to step up and help when he is needed. He has adopted the same love of motorcycles as his father and grandfather have. He started r

Meet BoPeep

Image
Hello!   I’m 45 yrs old and married to the love of my life Michael aka Woody.   We have been married for 12 years going on 13.  I have two amazing pups Bonnie and Clyde who definitely keep me on my “toes”. Woody is a career firefighter in the city where we live.  We are avid motorcyclists and love riding frequently.   In 2016 a group of us rekindled a chapter of the Red Knights International Firefighter Motorcycle club , and thus began our whirlwind introduction to the club life.  Woody and I attended our first event called KORT (Knights of the Round Table).  It is a competition between the Red, Blue, and Green Knights.  This was the first time meeting any other Red Knights and opening our eyes to a whole other side.  From there we started attending other events hosted by other Red Knights. When covid hit obviously nothing was happening.  One of my tribe members and another started a weekly zoom on Sunday nights for Red Knights.   So why not hop on and meet more people.  That

As animal lovers, we wanted to offer places that have pets looking for Fur-Ever homes an opportunity to be spotlighted. As we are all located in different areas of the US we thought maybe this would help get the word out.  Meet our first spotlight, Bruno.   Here’s what was written about him on their FB page!   Y’all 😭😭😭 Bruno tore one of the ears off his favorite stuffed toy — the same ear he’s missing himself.  The staff member who found this couldn’t believe it, so she took these photos to show the rest of our team. Bruno used to live chained up outside, and his ear was torn off when another dog attacked him and he couldn’t run away.  But Bruno knows there’s nothing wrong with him, and now he has a best friend just like him to prove it 🥹 You’re perfect just the way you are, Bruno ❤️ spcawake.org Please if he’s not for you share as someone is looking for a 4-legged to love! https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0336CyJUajFavqWfGTMoJ6iWJxiBxN55J4UjFHxf64521v4PECdWjXC1tH5

Friday Funny

Image
I don't know about you but I'm thrilled Friday is finally here!  Do you have that Friday Feeling?  Tell us about it!  We want to hear about your weekend plans!  Come on spill the tea with your new besties! The Tribe is working hard to bring you some fabulous introductions next week.  Every day next week we will each take a turn introducing ourselves a little more on a personal level.  A little background on why we launched this blog.  We launched the blog on February 1st because it’s Friendship Month and well I’m sure you can see why that was significant.  So after the formal introductions are done we are going to jump into topics that are close to our hearts.   We know the blog has started off slowly with no deep discussions but trust me there will be plenty of those along with some laughs and maybe even a few tears as we get this blog rollin! So until then enjoy your weekend and get ready for  Monday when you'll meet the first up Bo Peep!

Happy Groundhogs Day

Image
We may not have something noteworthy to post every single day, but we will try to bring you either a post or something to smile, laugh, or ponder when we can!  Today is one of those days!  But look for personal introductions from each lady next week!  Until then...a little message from Phyllis!

Welcome to the Tribe…

The Traveling Tribe… This tribe is made up of 5 beautiful, inspirational, talented, and empowering women who are all in different stages of life! The tribe is composed of 4 married ladies (all fire/police wives) and one that is almost married.  Some are small business owners, one is a medical professional and also a kickass firefighter, one just left a retail job with over a decade in the field, and another is counting the days till retirement (well all of us are in some way shape, or form), but one definitely can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it ain't no train!  A few ladies have been divorced, we have all had our share of heartbreak, dealt with mental health issues, lost a job or two, some attended college, some raised kids, a few have overcome medical issues, had financial struggles, fought demons and some are still fighting, and one is just a crazy plant lover, and we have all learned a lot along the way. While we have only been officially a tribe since 2020 amid
